I grew up in China, and came to United State for graduate school more than 10 years ago. I was a teacher in China after my college. I love to teach! I have tutored Chinese speaking, reading and writing for different age group. No matter if students are toddlers, school age kids, college students, or retired seniors, I really enjoy being with them through the learning process and make sure they learn another language yet still having fun!

What is your teaching philosophy?
Interest is the most important learning motive. People can learn best when they are taught through play or in a fun way.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Introduce each other and get to know a little bit about each other before learning.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Teach them how to learn, or the method to learn.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Make sure they have fun and build strong interest.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Be patient and explain it in an easy understanding way.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
Give the student something of interest and easy to read first, and then add difficulty step by step.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
Learn through play or in a fun way.

Use a fun way to teach.

Give examples and make it easy to understand.
