Coming from a long generation of teachers, it is no wonder that I love tutoring so much! I began tutoring biology my sophomore year of college at the University of Arizona. I absolutely loved helping students understand difficult science topics - I knew what it was like to be on the other side feeling frustrated trying to learn and grasp topics like DNA transcription and translation. Through my experience tutoring, I have helped students develop various learning styles to help them understand the material better. In addition to one-on-one tutoring, I was a Supplemental Instruction leader for the intro biology class at the UA, and I created lesson plans, games, and activities to make learning fun for the 350 students. I learned that most students are visual learners, so I advised many of them to make use of visual learning tools such as concept maps, Venn Diagrams, and charts.
Growing up in Arizona, Spanish was spoken all around me and students start learning the language at a young age. I studied Spanish all throughout college and spoke frequently with locals. In addition to tutoring Spanish, I love tutoring math as well. Math has always made sense to me, 1+1 has to equal 2, there is just no other way!
As for me outside the tutoring world, I graduated from the University of Arizona with a BS in Physiology, and I am currently getting my Masters in Medical Physiology at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. I am a huge basketball fan, so I was thrilled when LeBron decided to return to Cleveland about the same time that I moved here! In my spare time, I do my best to tour the city of Cleveland (there is so much to see!) and cook/bake.
