I completed my degree at the University of Washington with a BS in biology and minors in Mandarin Chinese and dance. I am passionate each of my areas of study for different reasons and each academic pursuit has brought me unique life experiences. My years of mandarin study have opened doors for me abroad, including competing in Mandarin on an international television show and rehabilitating sea turtles in the South China Sea. My pursuit of biology has taken me from studying crows’ ability to recognize human faces here in Seattle to researching critically endangered monkeys and dolphins in picturesque rural China. I am excited to encourage my students to become confident in their areas of study so they too can pave the academic avenues to follow their dreams.
I tutor Writing, English as a second language, Mandarin, and biology. Instilling confidence in my students is my top priority and I believe understanding a student’s learning style is paramount to effective teaching: I will get to know my students so that I can help them succeed. I have tutored English as a second language and writing before, and I love to teach Chinese and biology too. In my free time I enjoy reading, writing, creating art, dancing, and enjoying the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest by hiking and sailing.
