I am a graduate of Seattle University, where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy with Departmental Honors, concentrating in the fields of Ethics and Analytic Philosophy. I also completed a minor in Political Science. In the fall of 2015 I will be beginning law school, though where is still to be determined. I have been tutoring both formally and informally for years: as an undergraduate I was a volunteer with Seattle Children's Literacy Project for two years, where I worked with elementary age children to improve both their reading and math skills; I worked with many of my peers and classmates who were struggling with writing extended academic papers; and also as a tutor in introductory formal logic. I tutor math up to Algebra 1, phonics and reading, essay writing and editing, as well as SAT Verbal prep and LSAT Logic Games/Analytical Reasoning. I enjoy working with students in all these areas, but I most enjoy helping them through the essay process: seeing their ideas and arguments take shape and come to life on the page is very exciting for me.
Education is one of the most important values in my life: it is indispensable not only because of society's increasing valuation of it, but because it makes us more well-rounded and flourishing people on the whole. I am a firm believer in the idea that learning should be fun - never a chore - and I try to bring that to every student I work with. I also acknowledge that each student is unique, with their own struggles and learning styles, and my teaching style is adaptable to fit those needs. In my free time I enjoy reading novels (both graphic and written), playing the bass guitar, crafting and working with my hands, and solving mind puzzles.
