Certified Tutor

I graduated from Boston University with a B.S in Journalism and Anthropology. Upon graduation I spent several months tutoring English Language Arts and related test prep in Beijing. My areas of expertise are the SAT, ACT, and related standardized tests, with a focus on reading comprehension, grammar, and composition. I am very familiar with the study and instruction of other humanities as well, including english literature and various social studies subjects. I particularly enjoy teaching essay writing, as I have practical experience in the field, (employment at multiple newspapers), and love watching students develop into competent, articulate writers. It's always a pleasure to see students, especially those initially lacking in confidence, blossom into succinct, effective writers before your eyes. And prior to my experience teaching in China, I worked as a private tutor in Boston for 4 years, working with students from the middle school, to community college level.

In my spare time I am an avid reader of contemporary fiction and journalism, as well as a musician, my instruments of choice being guitar and piano.
