Kevin
Certified Tutor
I am a graduate of Binghamton University. I obtained a Bachelors of Science in Cell/Molecular Biology. I am currently taking a semester off before starting medical school. During my college career I was a teaching assistant for three different courses. My duties involved grading homework, explaining complex ideas to students, and helping them one on one, during my office hours. I also took tutoring courses, so I understand the mind of a student as well as that of a tutor. I tutor Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geometry, Algebra, Biochemistry, Math, and Nutrition. My favorite subjects to tutor are Biology, Math, and Physics. Biology because I am very interested in the way that life functions, and math and physics because I am interested in the principles of physics--and physics is essentially math. As a relatively recent graduate, I have recently undergone what students are currently going through, and I remember the struggles that I once had. My tutoring style, is one of of empathy, as it is important to understand a student, in order to properly teach them. Outside of tutoring I enjoy reading science fiction, playing sports (football, and soccer are my favorites), and going to the movies.

What is your teaching philosophy?
Every hard concept is made up of smaller, easier concepts. Understanding the easier things, will lead to a better grasp of the more difficult things.
