Certified Tutor
Greetings! My name is Joanna and I graduated from The University of San Francisco in 2011 with a degree in Biology and I am also currently a student at The Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, where I am studying in preparation to become a physician. While at USF, I did a lot of work in electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, light microscopy, confocal microscopy, California wildlife, histology and also did a lot of research about the infectious mechanisms of Schistosoma mansoni and its use of snails as intermediate hosts. In addition to my love of biology and things medically related, I also love to share my love for Latino culture, as I am proud to be a first generation Mexican-American. I absolutely love to share my culture, heritage and language with students of all ages and would love to help any student master the language! I have worked as a Spanish Immersion teacher for several years and have had much success with my students; I even taught my now husband, a self proclaimed "non-scholar" how to speak Spanish fluently. I would ultimately love to help anyone gain a better understanding of biology, basic sciences and Spanish!
