Certified Tutor
I am a middle and high school math teacher, and have four years of experience as a tutor of chemistry, math, biology, and physics. I recently graduated with my M.A. in Mathematics from Providence College, and completed my B.S. in Environmental Science from California State University - Monterey Bay in 2011. Before becoming a teacher and tutor, I worked as a program associate for the National Audubon Society, Restore America's Estuaries, and the National Environmental Education Foundation in Washington, D.C. In college, I worked as both an undergraduate teaching assistant for the Biology department and a natural history museum docent. My favorite subject to tutor is Precalculus, as it is the course that blends together geometry, algebra, and trigonometry. It is a challenging course, but that makes it the most fun to tutor as it also leads to the biggest "AH-HA!" moments. I believe that students learn best when they are comfortable, and it is my ultimate goal as a teacher and a tutor is to frame the subject in a fun and exciting way that can best reach learners of all types. On weekends, you can find me volunteering at the Rhode Island Parrot Rescue, providing socialization and enrichment for over one hundred abused and unwanted exotic birds.
