Certified Tutor

I'm a physical therapy student at Texas Woman's University here in Houston, but I grew up in Lafayette, LA. I tutored and did supplemental instruction for biology and chemistry classes at LSU for 3 years in college and for a while after I graduated. I've also worked a lot with middle and high school students in science classes. I've had CRLA tutor training and have worked with students of varying educational backgrounds, learning styles, and learning disabilities. Some of my students have just needed a boost, and others have needed intensive assistance. I know that sciences can be confusing for many students, but I believe the key to learning a science isn't just memorizing facts but instead requires understanding the processes and how things connect to each other. I strive to take different approaches to the material and individualize my tutoring strategies to best fit the student so they're able to understand the material in a way that makes sense to them. My goal for my students isn't only to pass the class, but also to gain a appreciation for science and see how things they learn directly impact their lives.
