Certified Tutor

I am a stay at home mom with 2 kids. I have been with children since 1994. I have experience with babysitting, being a nanny for 2 different families, working in child care with school age children, and tutoring. I have a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education.

I have been tutoring for the past 8 years. I have tutored children whose ages range from 5 to 12 years. I have experience tutoring children in public schools and after school. While I was tutoring in the public schools, there was a child that was in 4th grade, and he didn't know how to read. When I started out with him, he was at a Kindergarten reading level. By the time the school year was over, I had him reading at a 3rd grade reading level. He was so proud of himself.

That is why I love to tutor. I love to see the students succeed and help them gain the confidence they need to succeed. My goal is to help the child understand the material that they are learning any way possible. I will tutor them one way, and if they don't understand the material, I will try another way. I don't stop until they understand and feel comfortable with the material. If after 10 min they still don't understand the material, I will move onto another subject or another problem and then come back to what we were struggling with. I try to incorporate different items into the tutoring session depending upon the students learning style to help them succeed.
