The student and I both felt that her initial draft lacked focus, so she is going to brainstorm new ideas for next time, according to specific guidelines. We also finished her university enrollment essay so that she can complete the application. Next week, our goals are to finish the essay for another university and come up with a concrete schedule for working on more.

Tutoring review by Kory in Lake Forest, IL
Worked on mostly ratio test and other series tests today. The student seems to have a very good handle on performing the tests and finding the limit. However, she should work on interpreting the radius of convergence as well as the interval of convergence. Remember to utilize the factoring rules as well as the polynomial rules. Keep up the great work!

Tutoring review by Amira in Lake Forest, IL
I assessed the student by giving him a prompt and asking him to write a paragraph. Then, I quizzed him on the parts of speech. He did fine on both of these. We then discussed the issues he was having in his language arts class and determined that he needs help with intermediate-level grammar and writing about literature.  I also had him do a short review of a novel of his choice. Finally, I gave him a parts-of-speech review packet for homework.

The student and I worked on old test questions and problems she was having trouble with.  We worked on conics, writing equations of hyperbolas, polynomial functions, graphing polynomial functions and identifying their characteristics, and graphing rational functions.  Progress was good. The student seemed to have a better understanding of the material after reviewing problems.

Tutoring review by Catherine in Lake Forest, IL
Imperative mood-- all conjugations, singular and plural. Synopses of verbs in all conjugations, active and passive voice. The student did a good job transitioning from active to passive verbs.  He still needs work with verbs, particularly the present system in the 3rd and 4th conjugations. We have now reviewed all Latin I verb content, but he still needs more review before he can move on to Latin II.

Tutoring review by Susan in Lake Forest, IL
The student and I talked about vocabulary learning resources such as TV (The Daily Show), newspapers, and books, and we continued to discuss American politics. We also each told our stories about how we became interested in medicine, and we paid particular expression to verb tenses and idiomatic expressions.
