The student and I covered the law of cosines, and started working on vectors. Some of the vector material was unfamiliar to her, but she picked up the concepts pretty quickly. We will meet again on Wednesday for a final review of the material before her test.

The student and I reviewed math. His attitude was receptive. He needed help processing numbers quickly, and we will continue to work on that in the future. We covered division, and he understood how to do long division very well. He was given several problems, and was able to do them correctly, without help, towards the latter end of the session. I gave him six division problems to do for extra work before our next session.

The student and I worked on his homework today. We were able to read an entire book from the website, and he completed his reading log for the evening. We were also able to work on a grammar practice page, where he was sorting the words and adding the correct plural endings.

Today, the student and I worked on derivatives. We worked through several examples of computing derivatives of various functions. We practiced using the product rule, quotient rule, and chain rule. We practiced taking derivatives of trigonometric functions as well. We also went over implicit differentiation and did some examples of it, including finding the second derivative implicitly. We will meet again tomorrow.

We covered a lot of word problems with related rates, did some natural log derivatives, derivatives of e to the x function with a lot of factoring and simplifying, and covered some definition type problems.

The student came to the session with questions and her homework. We worked on circumference and area of a circle. After the first half of the session, we worked on distributive property and combining like terms. This session was extremely productive, and one that left her with a lot of clarity.
