The student has a math test on Tuesday regarding box-and-whisker plots. We spent the session practicing how to draw and interpret plots. She has a good understanding of the subject by pulling in her previous knowledge of finding median for data sets. Further, to keep her math skills sharp, we did not use the calculator today.

The student had a worksheet from school that she worked on. We had to derive linear equations from a word problem. We also graphed the linear equations and found the intercept on the calculator. I think she understood the beginning of the worksheet. The teacher is suppose to go over it soon in class and we will discuss it next Tuesday.

We worked on the most recent material on the mean value theorem, as well as maxima, minima, and inflection points. The student did well, except for a few errors involving the chain rule, which we also reviewed when looking over a previous quiz. This concept needs to be reinforced and practiced more.

The student needs help in his Ancient History class, and is also struggling with organization. We discussed the importance of writing down his assignments, and he claims he will become better about doing so. He worked on history note cards that were overdue, and that will also serve as a study tool for when he retakes the exam. We emailed his teacher today requesting a retake.

The student was finishing a Social Studies assignment, which I helped with sentence structure. Then we worked on addition, subtraction, multiplication of negative fractions! We called in her mom and auntie to help her get through that one!

This session reflects a session with both students. They both had little to cover. The session with Student 1 was focused primarily on chemistry, explaining lattice energy. Then, we looked at her notes in math. Overall, this session went well. During the session with Student 2, we looked at his challenge questions. Overall this session went well; we managed to get a solution to the questions.
