The student had two online assessments that she wanted to review. The curriculum spirals, so we talked about integers, fraction-to-decimal conversions, order of operations, and properties of operations. We also discussed sequences.

Today the student and I reviewed how to approach optimization problems. The student worked through a take-home project that covered a wide range of optimization problems. After that, the student worked through some rotation problems for physics and we discussed how to use the right-hand rule.

The student and I spent the better part of an hour going over problems involving u-substitution. I couldn't find a problem that she couldn't solve. Integration really seems to make sense to her. Overall, it was a nice lesson today.

The student worked on her homework. We talked about the focus and directrix of a parabola. We also worked on how to identify the center and radius of a circle. We worked on some geometry problems where we talked about interior vs. exterior angles and angle comparisons. Finally, we found inverse functions.

We continue to work on writing and fine motor skills. The student is able to make all his numbers to 6, and is using the headline, midline and baseline to correctly form his letters. I had him create a couple of work samples to check and see if he has remembered his letter and number formation. We worked on the letter p and the letter b, both recognition and making the letter sound. At the end of our session we played a simple counting game, which he was very enthusiastic about. I made some recommendations to his mom in terms of numbers and writing, as well as purchasing a lined write on board and some jumbo dice.

The student and I worked on applications of the first and second derivative in motion, constant acceleration problems, free fall and trajectory problems, velocity, acceleration, initial velocity, and position.
