Today, we worked on the zero property and word problems. The student understood the topic very quickly and solved the questions on his own. I left the student with just one multi-step word problem to practice with, that he will do tonight.

The student had his textbook already, so we went through the main topics of the first chapter. There were the usual main definitions of geometric terms used commonly in geometry. There was also the midpoint and distance formulas. One section covered perimeter and area of basic geometric figures like circles, squares, rectangles, and triangles.

The student has a module 6 test on Friday and a 9-weeks test next week. We worked on her Module 6 Assessment Readiness from her textbook. She got all of the questions correct, and is in great shape for her test on Friday. The 9-weeks test will be on modules 3-6, so she also completed the assessment readiness exercises for modules 3-5. This was a good refresher, and she recalled the majority of the material. We will continue to review next session.

We did ISEE verbal and reading assessments for lower level. The student did well on these with us working together. He has additional verbal and reading assessments and also math and quantitative assessments to do before I see him next. After seeing his results from the ISEE he took earlier, it is clear that reading and verbal are the areas that he needs to work on the most.

We reviewed for the student's algebra II test and used selected problems from her review worksheet. She was having difficulty understanding how to approach some problems, but understood how to solve them after assistance with problem setup. We reviewed strategies for the types of problems she will see on her test.

Today, we went over problems in the student's review packet for his geometry final. We went over proofs, something he had the most difficulty with. We walked through the problems together, and I tried to show him patterns and similarities that exist in a lot of proofs. I now think he has a better way to approach these problems. We also went over some algebraic problems, which he had no problem completing. Overall, the session went well. He will let me know if he wants to meet again tomorrow to continue going over the review packet.
