The student and I looked at a few questions from her PSAT and both agreed that she is capable of doing much better next year (when it counts!). We then finished her biology homework and studied for her geometry test that she has on Thursday. She needs a bit more review on all of the geometry concepts, but I think she will be ready in the next two days.

Today, I worked with the student on understanding basic structure principles, such as triangulation and force diagrams. We discussed some past projects that demonstrate these ideals. We continued the structured theme, as we moved on the structure of the heart.

The student and I reviewed the previous leveled book with very little difficulty. We went on to another leveled book after reviewing words he might have difficulty with. He read the book a second time, and then he played several games of Sight Word Bingo on the laptop. The first game's score was 75%. I asked him to play again so that he could improve his score. The second time he got 100%. Before we ended the session, I took him back to the last leveled reader and pointed to the words that he had trouble with. He was able to recognize and say the words.

For today's session, we worked on the student's Math and Science homework. For Math, we worked on one-step and two-step equations. He had a great sense of how to do the equations worked. For Science, we worked on his lab report for Physics. We worked on writing the necessary components of a lab report.

We went over a review packet, correcting any questions the student did not understand or that she answered incorrectly. Since she had an exam the next day, we spent the rest of the time reviewing the three forms of a linear equation, graphing them, and discussing further the application of the correlation coefficient without the use of a calculator (since she will not be having one for her exam).

The concept we covered was graphing transformations to a parent function. The student's attitude towards the material was very positive. Towards the end of the session, his confidence in the material increased noticeably, which was great!
