Tutoring review by Alexander in Longwood, FL
The student has been very well-behaved and responsible today and she seems very motivated to make up for yesterday's lost time. She got some PE assignments out of the way in the morning and then worked on World Cultures, submitting a 200 word essay on Ghana with outside sources and MLA citations, a special unit on desert climates, and another on the geographic importance of the Middle East. Since also completed the rest of this week's share of Spanish. As is most often the case, she's been really enthusiastic and chipper about Spanish.

We went over double angle identities for her test on Thursday, focusing on the small details she usually forgets. She was doing much better by the end of the session.

Today, we continued working on the second half of the student's worksheet on statistics. After finishing the worksheet, I made up a few practice problems that were more complex than the worksheet. The worksheet was entirely about calculating averages for a given dataset. I asked the student to find what value would raise or lower the dataset's average to a desired level. I showed him that an average is equal to a total number of points divided by the number of values. I then used the remainder of our time to start reviewing older concepts that will be on the student's final exam. We reviewed graphing systems of inequalities, properties of exponents, scientific notation, and transformations of parent functions. The student did great today!

We covered organization tips, how to study for history class (maps, learning the rivers of Texas worksheet), and we covered Spanish accents. The student said she struggled with Spanish, but she did such a good job listening and paying attention and applying the concept and exercises I showed her. She had a really positive attitude; she was open to trying new techniques and exercises. I included using colors to help her organize herself and I included using clues to help her remember information. I told her to watch a TV show she was familiar with in Spanish with the English subtitles. I saw one of her assignments she had done poorly on and helped her correct it and taught her a new way to learn the information. I think she has a great attitude. I definitely think she picked up some new ways to learn and memorize information.

Tutoring review by Marin in Longwood, FL
We went through a lesson on rays and angles which brought in the protractor postulate, and discussed coordinates of rays and how to establish angle measures from these relative coordinates. The student missed this lesson, so she didn't feel confident about the material when she first attempted the assignment. In reviewing her work, she came to the correct answers for the problem set.

The student had an exam the next day and he brought me a worksheet with practice problems of everything he learned in the class so far. We basically worked as many of the problems we could before the end of the session. Problems included definitions of functions, solving quadratic equations, factoring, graphing, imaginary numbers, inequalities and graphing inequalities, linear regression and line of best fit. We worked through anything he did not understand. He learned fast and will do excellently on the exam.
