Tutoring review by Andrew in Englewood, NJ
During this session we went through the Chapter 9 self-assessment and reviewed topics as we moved through the problems. Once we started practicing problems, the student was picking up the material very well. I think moving to twice a week as planned will definitely help to reinforce these topics. I would encourage him to spend some time on his own in between tutoring sessions and practice similar problems from the topics we go through. I will also reiterate that he is a bright student and very capable of doing well in this class.

Tutoring review by Krista in Englewood, NJ
The student and I reviewed for his test over sequences on Monday. He had a worksheet to complete that went over the main topics in the chapter. While he completed the worksheet we discussed each of the problem types and how they would be solved. I made a sheet listing all the important equations we needed to solve the problems. This seemed to help him visualize each of the equations and how they all come together to get the answer. I left the sheet with the student so that he can study and memorize the equations before the test.

The student and I walked through the online portal and did a few practice problems from each topic on the ACT. She also sent me her basic results from September. It is really important that she take some of the diagnostic tests I sent her before next week.

Tutoring review by Meghan in Englewood, NJ
This was our last session before the SSAT. We started by reviewing the overall test format and what to expect. I also went through how to approach different kinds of questions; I reminded her that unlike the ISEE, wrong answers lose a quarter of a point. We went through when to guess and when to skip. I then went through the section order. We started reviewing math. She was having trouble with the difference between measurements, perimeters, and areas. I used rulers and a cutting mat to show the difference. This seemed to help her. I also reviewed with her ways to use her calculator to answer certain test questions. We also went through surface area and volume. She had a lot of questions, but she seemed to understand both of these ideas. We spent the final half hour doing analogies. She did pretty well with these.
