We introduced ourselves and I got a general idea of what the student needs to focus on and why. We'll be starting with studying vocabulary words as well as the usage of the verbs Ser, Estar, Haber, and Tener. I gave him techniques on how to study the material, mainly simplification and association. We discussed the student's goals for the test as well as her perceived strengths and weaknesses. We then began working on English. We discussed using her native speaker abilities to test possible options and talked about run-on sentences, who/whom, and simplifying the text. We then worked on reading. We discussed possible strategies for approaching the passages, including underlining key ideas in the text while reading, and reading the questions first and then underlining key points while reading. We then practiced both of these methods. She will complete the English and reading sections we worked on for next week.
