Tutoring review by Carolyn in Carson, CA
We worked on long division, focusing on strategies to make the process easier. We talked about rounding and keeping the worked out multiplication problems (instead of erasing them) so she could refer back to them throughout the problem.

Tutoring review by Christine in Carson, CA
We discussed roughly the first fifteen problems from the released questions from the state assessment Geometry exam. So far, the material seems slightly more difficult, and questions are worded slightly differently, but most of what we covered was present on the exam. My main concern now is Trigonometry. Based on this exam, Trig is part of Geometry. We'll start on Trig once we finish this state assessment exam.

Tutoring review by Adrian in Carson, CA
We have specifically reviewed algebra I material, particularly on solving equations involving inequalities. The student was mostly focusing on the examples in helping her solve the problems and was not really focusing on the reasons for each step she took. I explained to her the reasons behind each step and I left her with more practice problems to do at home. Overall, the session was excellent.

Tutoring review by Anne in Carson, CA
The student and I both agreed she needed to build her vocabulary, so she is doing reading about the Dobsons. This is on a website that I found. I gave her a quiz and she did well. I then gave her some open ended questions to practice using the preterite and the imperfect. For homework, she is going to finish some review work and I am going to send her a quiz for the next section of the Dobsons. Also we watched a short film (4 minutes) in Spanish that she did not completely understand. I am going to provide her with a translation. The film also is an introduction to the conditional tense in Spanish and more very good vocabulary.

Tutoring review by James in Carson, CA
We did a timed math section. She completed it with a minute left and missed three. Since she did really well on the math last time I think it would be best to focus on reading and writing for the remaining sessions. This way her combined score will be the highest possible.
