Tutoring review by Madison in Catalina Foothills, AZ
The student and I worked on some assessment test practice material. We focused on finding common factors, reducing fractions, identifying fraction-decimal equivalents, and solving problems where multiple operations are required.

Tutoring review by Loc in Catalina Foothills, AZ
Reviewed ratios and percentages with the student in the Pre-Algebra book. She was able to set up ratios correctly and solved by cross-multiplying. On word problems, sometimes it just takes repeating the problem sentence by sentence for her to realize what needs to be done. Had her complete pg. 52. HW: Pg. 36 in pre-algebra (two step equations).

Rather than finish the last unit's worth of pre-calculus review, instead I helped re-teach the first lesson of the student's next calculus unit, using the limit of the difference quotient of the slopes of secant lines to find the slopes of tangent lines, and thus find derivatives. I delved more into the history of the development of calculus than his teacher did, which the student found interesting and probably helped him understand the concepts better. We also completed his homework for next week to estimate the slopes of tangent lines.

Tutoring review by Perry in Catalina Foothills, AZ
Yesterday, student 1 and I went through his geometry homework.  He seems to have gotten a better grasp on a lot of the material.  Also, he knows the theorems better.  We discussed the relationship between tangents of angles and slopes of lines.  After I tutored him, I helped student 2 go through his precalculus exam.  He did well on most of it.  His mistakes were mainly computational.  The one problem he struggled with was a related rates problem involving the rate of change of distance between two ships, but we were able to work it out and I believe he has a more solid understanding now.

Tutoring review by Kim in Catalina Foothills, AZ
Today we focused on the essay and her timing. We set up an outline for a given essay topic. We discussed having an introduction, supporting details, and a conclusion. We then read a sample essay and critiqued it. We covered what was good about it and how could we improve it. I then timed her on a verbal section. She did well timing wise. We just need to keep increasing her vocabulary. We also did ten Math questions just to see how her timing  is on that section. She answered them all quickly and correctly. HW- read and critique next sample essay.

Tutoring review by Jean in Catalina Foothills, AZ
I checked the student's English grammar/mechanics homework, which covered semicolon and colon usage and identifying subjects vs. predicates (both simple and complex). We reviewed the parts of speech we went over in our last session. In math, she completed a worksheet on solving equations for homework. She understands how to solve basic equations very well. We practiced more with multi-step equations and equations involving fractions. We also reviewed the order of operations and integer addition/subtraction. I showed her how to combine like terms in expressions and equations.
