The Student and I continued reviewing from the ACT prep book. We focused on the math. We reviewed topics in trig (the trig functions and inverse trig functions), geometry (area/perimeter of circles/triangles/rectangles/trapezoids), matrices, functions (graphing and substitution), series, and logic problems. The student is doing very well. She mentioned that she just needs to increase her math score by one point to meet her target score and I definitely think she can do it.

Reviewed for his upcoming test. We went over simplifying exponents, expressing exponents in positive form, proportions, and cross-multiplying. We also reviewed his previous test. He was able to self-correct some answers, and on the others he understood the concept after review.

I met with the student for the first time today to start Chemistry tutoring. I am very encouraged by his enthusiasm and curiosity, as he asks a lot of questions to get the right idea of each topic. We started by talking about the basics: atoms, molecules, elements, and an introduction to the periodic table. Overall, I think it will be a very good fit.

Today the student and I wrapped up our discussions of the readings, focusing on the Tennyson. We then discussed all three of the Arthurian tales he was assigned. I quizzed him a little on the other readings as well. We went over some writing strategies, such as selecting the question for which he can write the most complete answer. I suggested that he re-read Antigone, the Arthurian stories, and the Chekhov between now and the exam. I also wrote down several essay style questions he can use to review the readings.

Moved on to the ACT Math section, which we broke down to the individual concepts tested and formulas needed to complete the section. Student's calculation and logic skills are both excellent, but with the ACT as a content test, some review will be needed (especially re: basic trig) before our sessions are complete. Continuing with Reading next session.
