Tutoring review by Clayton in La Vista, NE
The student continued to work on his essay for Fahrenheit 451. He successfully mapped out his essay, and we worked on how to analyze and ensure that each part of the prompt is answered. He also worked on the formal outline for the essay. The student continues to improve his writing and understanding of the questions being asked. He is learning to analyze his readings, and pick out good quotes to use to back up his thesis.

Tutoring review by Hector F. in La Vista, NE
I worked with both student A and student B. With student A I worked on positive and negative numbers and calculating volume for 3D objects. With student B we worked through a packet of 100+ math problems as she prepares for a comprehensive end-of-the-year math exam. We covered solving linear equations using substitution and elimination, basic algebra solving for x, working through word problems to put the information into solvable equations, and graphing and solving inequalities. Student A worked hard throughout the session and was receptive to my instruction and feedback. Student B worked hard throughout the session and seemed focused on her homework. She was open to different ways of looking at problems and to instruction, and showed facility collaborating with me to solve more difficult problems. It seems that both kids will be willing to work with me and seem to already have strong ability in math.

Tutoring review by Jessica in La Vista, NE
The student and I reviewed his reading comprehension skills, as well as his writing and basic math facts. He was taught new strategies for blending letter sounds together. He worked on comprehension and listened to three stories read aloud. He was required to "write in the air" about certain discussion questions that went along with the text. For math, we reviewed fact families. He also did work on addition and subtraction skills up to 25. He did very well this session.

Tutoring review by Ih-Ren in La Vista, NE
We covered the behavior of functions, rough graphs of functions, simplifying expressions with negative exponents. The student was concern about logarithm problems, and after practicing exercises and explaining to him, he is much confident now.

Tutoring review by Goke in La Vista, NE
We covered conductors, insulators, erosion, weathering, density, scientific method, and forces via executing test corrections. The student had a few misconceptions about these concepts, but as we made the corrections she was able to justify the correct answers by giving brief explanations for each missed item. She will be able to earn back some of the points on the exam by completing the test corrections. She had an extremely positive attitude towards this evening's session. She is excited about earning those points back. She also worked on completing a project titled the "ABC's of Math." The project involves making a glossary of math terms that includes examples. She is required to reference all resources used to complete the project. She scored a 95 percent on the last "ABC's of Math" project she completed. She will continue to practice by completing homework assignments in both academic disciplines. She is doing well thus far this school year.
