I have a deeper understanding for the subject that i would like to share with anyone who would want to learn. I have tutored family members and non relatives and have helped the students understand math better. I am patient, relate-able and approachable when teaching math. Every student can learn, just not in the same way or day. I understand and have experienced that feeling of frustration and confusion while learning due to a "cookie-cut tutor". Therefore, after all these years of tutoring, I highly value the differences (race, gender, ethnicity, learning styles/speeds) between my students.The essence of my tutoring principles are built on what I hold to be irreplaceable in the process of learning: ethics and morals. While many tutors accept jobs because of money, I tutor because I sincerely value education and personal growth. Therefore, I respect all of my clients because by seeking a tutor, they are already taking the first step to become a better version of themselves. This respect for all my students is the foundation of our sessions because I treat my students as equals. I recently relocated to Atlanta from Washington, DC, where I worked for several nonprofit organizations in both leading and supportive capacities. Over a period of two years, I worked with architecture and design students and recent graduates across the country. I visited nearly forty colleges and universities, encouraging students to engage their communities and find new ways to apply the knowledge and skills they acquire in the classroom.I am currently the Editor-in-Chief of Crit, the Journal of the American Institute of Architecture Students, a national peer-reviewed publication in which high school, college, and graduate students publish their written and design work. I also work as a college essay editor for an educational consultant based in Philadelphia. I am preparing applications to dual-degree graduate programs in city planning and law.I consider "co-learning" to be the most appropriate educational context, rather than a "master-apprentice" situation in which a student passively absorbs information. I seek to engage students in an active and participatory process, in which they consider me as an equal participant. Through critical dialogue, I seek to challenge students' perceptions and help them overcome barriers.I truly value knowledge and I am constantly seeking new opportunities to learn. I seek to strike a balance in life between work and leisure, sternness and light-heartedness, seriousness and whimsy. I understand well the pressures and stresses that students face, and I hope to alleviate some of these stresses on students' path to success.

I have a doctorate in counseling psychology from University of Tennessee-Knoxville and currently am a postdoctoral fellow at Yale School of Medicine. During my graduate program, I gained significant experience in teaching foundational psychology coursework to college students. I served as an instructor for a General Psychology course over two semesters. This gave me the opportunity to create a space for students to clarify course material, have critical discussions about various psychology concepts, and learn through interactive activities the ways in which these concepts might apply to their everyday lives.I also served as an instructor for Research Methods in Psychology for 8 semesters at the college level. Along with teaching basic principles of conducting scientific research, interpreting results, and presenting findings, I emphasized students' roles as research consumers and how they can effectively understand and critique research, both in scientific journals and the popular press. I also enjoy helping students develop their writing, critical thinking, and verbal reasoning skills generally.As a teacher, I pride myself in making difficult concepts understandable through the use of interesting examples, media, and activities, and discussion. I also strive to create a welcoming atmosphere for my students, so that they feel comfortable to ask questions about material and raise other concerns. It is my mission to help people realize how easy education and subjects can be. If someone fails a class it is the failing of the instructor not the student. We used to have these values and I am trying to bring them back. Learning is fun and just requires work like anything else. I am trying to make education easy and simple.I am currently seeking to get my MBA from ASU. As such, many of my favorite subjects are business related. I love supply chain management and how it relates to everything in the business field. Understanding how logistics works and how interconnected everything is fascinates me. But as I got my start in mathematics, I try to relate everything to teachable theories that breakdown into simple facts.My tutoring style is often based on this approach. Everything is related as long as you are able to make that connection. I like to take something that seems foreign and break it down into its basic concepts and relate that to something that is familiar. I have found that small victories win wars.Outside of education, I am an avid hiker. I live in one of the greatest states to do it in and I plan on exploring all over. Outside of hiking, I enjoy travelling, beer surfing, couch surfing, and karaoke. If I am not out doing something, I am then snuggled up reading a good book or watching a great movie. I find that people who forget to take pleasure in the simple things in life often find themselves at a lost.

I connect with people best through sharing ideas. The majority of my spare time is spent trying to simplify or find alternate proofs of basic theorems to make them more intuitive.

I currently teach in the Business, Mathematics, and Computer Science departments at various schools.
