I received my education at the University of North Texas where I majored in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. After my undergraduate degree, I earned my Master of Science from UT Tyler Health Science Center in Biotechnology. As a graduate student I completed two years of research and published a Thesis. Currently I am pursing physician assistant school! One day I want to work in a medically under-served clinic helping disadvantage families. I have three plus years of tutoring experience, in subjects such as: science, math, history, MCAT, GRE, and K-12 learning. Of course my favorite subjects to tutor are the sciences! Biology is my most favorite. In my teaching style I try to connect students with the subject their learning. Making learning come to life, so that it will not only stick in the student brain, but so they can use it in their everyday life. I am a current PhD candidate in experimental geophysics at MIT. I have successfully tutored dozens of students for the GRE; these students report not only higher scores but deeper understanding of the material, even in areas they have struggled with for years. Many of my students have not taken relevant quantitative courses for years and have forgotten much of their fundamental math skills, but after working with me for a short time, they are able to achieve great GRE quantitative scores. Students also enjoy my approach to the verbal section, where we work on decoding the questions and narrowing answer choices based on the type of question. My experience in teaching/tutoring comes from my time spent in Graduate School at Ohio State University when I was a Graduate Teaching Assistant. I had to conduct recitation and laboratory for multiple sections of students (between 20-30 at a time). It was one of the best parts of my week. I really enjoyed working with the students and trying to clarify any problems they had with the material. Yes, it would get to be quite frustrating at times because you have to repeat a law or concept 5 times in 5 different ways, or students just weren't paying attention. But to see a student finally achieve clarity and sense the relief of pressure in them made it well worth it. I enjoy making connections with my students. I feel it makes it much easier to convince them of the importance of a given topic. As a younger individual myself, I find it fairly easy to make a connection with any student, or to at least make them comfortable. My style is laid back, and many of my students have been appreciative of that.
