I have been working with students (high school and college levels) for the past sixteen years. I have a Doctorate in Physical Chemistry from West Virginia University.I enjoy working one-on-one with students. My goals for tutoring include establishing connections between science and the everyday life, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and creating an enabling environment for students by having them lead some problem-solving activities.Aside from teaching, I spend time playing chess or tennis, reading, watching TV, and traveling.

After moving to Houston, Texas as a part of Teach For America, I taught English and Composition for 3 years. This instruction consisted of writing/proofreading essays, rhetorical analysis, argumentation/persuasive writing, and creative writing. Furthermore, that included teaching grammar and other writing mechanics. After teaching for 3 years, I sought after the Masters of Social Policy Evaluation program at Rice University. Eager to begin a career in statistical analysis and evaluation, I graduated as a part of the first cohort of the Rice University Program. Now, I have skills in coding, data visualization, and statistical analysis. Therefore, I am excited and qualified to help you achieve your goals in a variety of subjects!

I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Architecture and a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering. I'm fairly new to formal tutoring but I've been helping my five children with their homework for the last 18 years. I consider math and science my favorite subjects, with physics being one of my most favorite. When I'm coaching a student, I believe in a very tailored approach which encourages and strengthens the knowledge and skills that a student has and then adds the information that is needed to succeed. Rote memorization is not my strong suit, I believe in really understanding the underlying organizing principles. In my other job I design houses, and when I'm not doing that I love to read, and hike and do some woodworking now and then.

I am a full-time student in my third year at The College of New Jersey, pursuing a BA in Political Science and planning to pursue a law degree afterwards. I have experience tutoring high school students, which I was able to do through the National Honor Society. Because I am still a student myself, I believe I can relate best to middle school, high school and college-age students. I have always been fascinated by history, and have passed the AP European History and AP US History Exams while I was in high school. In addition to history and government studies, I am also proficient in English (AP and college-level language and literature studies) and writing (both essay and creative). Outside of this, I work as an RA at my college and enjoy watching movies with my brothers, camping, cooking, and spending time with friends in the great outdoors.
