My 30-year teaching experience in Virginia public schools included teaching middle school math and science, and high school Chemistry, Consumer Chemistry, AP Chemistry, Algebra I, Algebra II, and General Math. After retiring from teaching middle and high school, I taught at two universities in Virginia and Arkansas helping college students learn how to teach K-12 science and math, and directing a STEM Education Center that provided math and science teaching and learning support for K-12 teachers and students in Northeast and Northcentral Arkansas. During my retirement I have enjoyed tutoring K-5 students with their math and reading, and supporting high school students with their chemistry. My educational background that helped to prepare me as a teacher and a tutor includes a Ph.D. (Virginia Tech) and Master's and Bachelor's degrees (Radford University) focusing on teaching and learning, mathematics, and chemistry. Knowing that I can play a small role in supporting students achieve success in the present AND the future inspires me to continue working with students as a tutor.
