We've had the BEST experience with VT! Our tutor has helped my middle schoolers math grades come up from a D to an A for our 8th grader and from a D to a B for my 6th grader. I'm beyond pleased with how she connected with my boys.

We reviewed the math homework and completed an English section lesson. The student has a very good grasp on grammar rules and also does well on the rhetorical skills questions. She will complete a full length practice exam for the next lesson.

Session with the student went well. We worked on her final review questions. We worked on different kinds of reaction- double replacement, combustion, synthesis, decomposition; also balancing equations and the correct chemical formula. We also did problems involving moles, molar mass, molarity and dimensional analysis techniques of solving problems. I have planned to work on dilution, colligative properties and pH on our next meeting to wrap up for the finals.

I think that the student will do quite well on the ACT when she sits for it again. She only missed a few questions from the English section I gave her for HW so we moved on. We discussed word problem translation, and then I taught her a lesson on probability. I gave her the last third of a math session to complete, and we went over the few she missed.

Tutoring review by Rachelle in Lake in the Hills, IL
The students and I went over basic verbs during this session (I want, you want, I have, you have, I am, you are) as well as some descriptive words. The goal is still to encourage them to make full sentences. They seem confident with their vocabulary. I left a list of words/phrases for the parent to use with them in the interim.

Tutoring review by Drew in Lake in the Hills, IL
The student  and I covered an introduction to some basic physics problems, as well as a review of trigonometry. We worked through several example problems, and she did very well with little guidance. I could tell easily that  she has strong math skills. I provided a copy of a physics text book for her to use to do homework problems from when I assign them, and to use as a reference with examples and introductions to all introductory physics topics.
