AI is everywhere — in your search results, your feeds, your writing tools, even your group chats. But how do you know when it's helping you... and when it's fooling you?

AI Literacy is a crash course in becoming a smart, skeptical, and skilled user of artificial intelligence. You’ll learn how to spot deepfakes and AI-generated images, evaluate AI-written answers (including your own!), and ask better questions when using tools like ChatGPT or Google’s AI summaries. You'll also dig into how social media bots influence what we believe — and how to push back by asking smarter, tougher questions. By the end of the course, you'll be able to say, "I know how to use AI — but more importantly, I know how to question it."

Week 1: AI Isn’t Magic — It’s Math

What AI tools actually do (and what they don’t)
Why AI gets things wrong — and how to spot it
How to ask better prompts and challenge weak answers
Practice: “Is this a good answer? Or a good-sounding one?”

Week 2: Fake Images, Deepfakes, and AI Visual Tricks

How to tell if an image or video was made by AI
Real-world examples: political fakes, fake celebrity ads, viral memes
Tools and clues to detect fakery
Practice: Investigate a suspicious image or video

Week 3: Bots, Bias, and the Social Media Machine

How AI-powered bots shape what we see and think online
What happens when AI is trained on biased data
How to question what shows up in your feed or DMs
Practice: Track down and challenge a piece of AI-influenced content

Week 4: Building Better Habits with AI

How to use AI for feedback, not just praise
Spotting “easy answers” vs. real thinking
Final challenge: improve an AI answer, rewrite a fake post, or analyze a case study
Leave with a cheat sheet: “How to Use AI Without Getting Played”
