Members-Only Event: Tour the Ultimate Storm-Chasing Vehicle

Grades 4-8

It takes a special kind of car to drive through tornadoes, hurricanes, and hailstones–and an even more special one to launch weather rockets into those storms. And in this Learning Member exclusive event, storm chaser Reed Timmer will give students a live, interactive virtual tour of the ultimate storm-chasing machine, his Dominator 3 vehicle. Even better? Students will get to participate in a live weather rocket launch to collect storm data and will have the opportunity to chat with Reed throughout the tour and experiment.

Please note: to facilitate a small-group atmosphere with plenty of opportunity for interaction with this legendary storm chaser, registration is limited to the first 75 students.

Meet your expert instructor, Dr. Reed Timmer

The host of the hit show Storm Chasers for four seasons, Dr. Reed Timmer has been chasing tornadoes, hurricanes, blizzards, and wildfires his entire life. His fascination with extreme weather led him to earn a PhD in meteorology from the University of Oklahoma, naturally situated in the heart of Tornado Alley. For decades he’s been roaming the country in a series of custom storm-chasing vehicles named “Dominator,” educating the world on weather safety and the causes of some of nature’s most powerful weather events.
