Today we went over strategies for each ACT section, English rules, and common math formulas. For the strategies, we went over general strategies for the exam (like always guess), and individual strategies for each section (like plan ahead when writing the essay). Next, I taught him English grammar and sentence rules, such as when to use a semicolon and how to spot a run-on sentence. I also taught him independent and dependent clauses, and we went over practice problems in the ACT Prep Book. For the math, I taught him basic formula. For the writing, we went over the prompt in the ACT Prep Book. He is planning to take the ACT in December and hopes to score around 32~34.

I did have to also review some concepts, such as the equation for a circle in a coordinate graph. She also needed help with reading charts for the math section, so we went through those in detail.
