I am an educator who loves to help students reach their goals. I have taught for many years, and always enjoy the challenge of working with a student who is struggling with the content they've been assigned. My goal as a tutor is to help students succeed while challenging them to use their critical thinking skills, regardless of the subject.

I am a certified English and science teacher in Missouri for grades 5-9. My dual certification gives me an edge when it comes to integrating writing and reading in the science classroom. I understand that all students have a variety of learning styles and that it is important to differentiate my teaching in order to accommodate everyone. I am originally from a small farming community in rural Missouri. I have studied English language and literature, linguistics, Russian language and literature, journalism, education, and pedagogy during my academic career. My passion is to teach Language Arts, though I also teach English as a Second Language. Providing education to others is what I devoted my entire life to, and I would not have it any other way.

I am particularly fond of Shakespeare (although there are a lot of students who don't agree with me!) but I also have experience reading other European and American literature. My history experiences covers Europe, America, and Latin America, although I have a special fondness for Tudor England (think Henry VIII and his wives), early American history, and classical cultures, like ancient Rome. I think that everybody can develop a love for history, they just need to approach it in the right way!

I am a high school English teacher currently living in Phoenix, Arizona who is passionate about education and hoping to further my experience in helping students meet their individual goals, improve their overall learning, and increase their academic performance.
