I graduated from Northeastern University School of Law in May of 2014. Now, as I begin my legal career, I'm eager to encourage and assist students in continuing their education and pursuing their dreams. Before law school, I taught classes and tutored at an after school program in Boston. While there, I developed and standardized curricula for ISEE preparation (6th grade), Mathematics (5th and 6th grades), English (5th and 6th grades), Physics (5th and 6th grades), comic design (5th and 6th grades), and Robotics (grades 5 through 8). I also reviewed homework and skill-built in areas of weakness for students (grades 3 through 12).In 2009, I worked for Huntington Learning Center where I tutored students in preparation for the SAT in Math, Reading, and Writing. I also tutored students in preparation for the ACT and high school Mathematics.I look forward to working with motivated students.

Hello! I'm an Iowa native who moved to Nashville for graduate school. My background is in the life sciences; I have a Masters from Vanderbilt in Chemical and Physical Biology, and my undergraduate degree is in Biochemistry. However, my education has been well rounded and I have interests in philosophy, literature, writing, and history. I have extensive research experience, and I hope to share my passion for science with students. I have experience mentoring undergraduate students during my graduate school education to help them gain research experience. I am a very patient teacher and have the ability to see problems from the students perspective; my tutoring style adapts to each student's individual needs, but centers on getting each student to come to their solutions rather than following any one formula for success. I have a lot of experience with standardized testing, and have taken multiple AP subject tests in addition to the ACT, SAT, and GRE examinations. In my free time, I like to play and coach Ultimate Frisbee. I coached the Vanderbilt men's team for three years and am currently leading a club team representing Nashville that travels throughout the southeast to compete. These experiences have helped me develop the leadership, discipline, interpersonal and educational skills that are so valuable for tutoring.

I am currently a law student at Northeastern University School of Law. I graduated from college with a B.A. in History and Sociology and have worked hard to keep my reading and college-level writing skills sharp. In my previous position as a community engagement director of a youth non-profit, I hosted college and job preparedness workshops as well as implemented a tutoring program to help youth with their organizational and study skills. In addition to the volunteer tutoring I've done in youth centers, I have worked for tutoring companies for the past 4 years, specializing in middle and high school math, reading comprehension, writing, and ACT and SAT Test Prep. I continue to volunteer my services outside of those positions as well, in order to provide my expertise to families who cannot otherwise afford lessons. My latest student went from an overall ACT score of 21 to 26, in two months' time.I truly believe I'm the best person to help out as I focus on making mastering difficult subjects an achievement students can be proud of. Please feel free to reach out to me to speak further!

My love of teaching comes from a lifelong love of learning and building relationships. As a high school student with over a 4.0 and a college student who graduated with honors, I know how to work hard, and I know that hard work will pay off. Having spent two years as a high school English teacher, I am extremely knowledgeable of all kinds of learning styles, but I have learned that almost every student learns best working one-on-one with a teacher. Therefore, I love being a tutor!A certified 7-12 English Teacher, I specialize in tutoring English skills (reading and writing) for success in middle school and high school and on the reading, English, and writing portions of the SAT and ACT. I can assist older students on GED English preparation and in their English college courses. I provide relevant homework for students who desire it.I appreciate feedback (online or in person) from every lesson, and I will work to improve and change my strategies to meet your needs.I am extremely flexible. I will meet you at a place that is most convenient and must suited to your specific learning needs.I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve success in your studies!

I received a BA with honors in Chemistry from Grinnell College in 2011 and received my PhD in chemistry from the University of Wisconsin Madison in 2017. I was a student mentor in organic chemistry during my junior and senior years at Grinnell. Then, at UW Madison I was a teaching assistant for general and physical chemistry and taught summer outreach courses for high school students. After finishing my PhD work in December 2016, I served as a visiting faculty member at Cornell College in Mount Vernon Iowa. During the Spring 2017 semester I taught general chemistry, organic chemistry lab and conducted physical chemistry research with a student. When I was growing up I wanted to know the composition of the materials in the world around me and why a given material had particular properties. I found chemistry had the answers to my questions. Now I am inspired by how chemistry can be used to enable green and renewable energy sources. Chemistry allows us to connect the abstract and strange world of atoms and molecules to everyday applications. As a student, my learning was enhanced by constantly asking for clarification and attempting to craft my own explanation. As a tutor, I ask students to explain their thinking so I can find their confusion or misconception. After providing new information and examples I ask students to demonstrate their new understanding with practice problems to make sure my explanations made sense.Outside of chemistry I enjoy playing and following sports. I ran track and cross country in high school and college. I now enjoy playing ultimate frisbee and soccer.

As a dedicated and enthusiastic educator, my passion for helping students stems from a deep-seated belief in the transformative power of education. Witnessing the moment when a student grasps a challenging concept or achieves a personal academic milestone is profoundly rewarding. These experiences drive my commitment to providing personalized and effective tutoring. My journey in education began during my undergraduate studies, where I developed a love for teaching while volunteering as a tutor for younger students. I am currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Economics and Sociology from Grinnell College. This academic background has equipped me with a robust understanding of educational theories and practical teaching strategies. I tutor a wide range of subjects, including Mathematics, Economics, Sociology, and Geography. However, my favorite subject to tutor is Mathematics. The logical structure and problem-solving nature of math provide endless opportunities for creative teaching methods. I particularly enjoy helping students overcome their math anxiety and develop a genuine interest in the subject.
