Hello! My name is Annika Cushnyr and I am currently a senior at Central Michigan University where I am a member of the Honors Program and studying French and Political Science. I will graduate in May 2019 and will then head off to law school. I am hoping to build a legal career centered around human and civil rights!Outside of school, I love traveling and have been to over 20 countries, living in 4 of them for extended amounts of time. I completed my Bachelor of Science in secondary education with a major in integrated science and a minor in chemistry at Central Michigan University in 2009. I received my Master of Science in Educational Leadership-Principalship from Saginaw Valley State University in 2013.Since completing my undergraduate degree, I have been employed as a full-time classroom teacher working with a variety of classes at multiple grade levels. My inspiration for teaching stems from my own school experience; particularly because of my Biology teacher. Between January and June 2019, I spent time as an educational curator in a challenging school district. I worked with 1st to 4th-grade students. The contrast between this school and the other school systems I worked in for this company was significant I found that a greater variety of styles of teaching were used I expected. I recognize the importance of communication within teaching; something I learned from working for the Biology department during my Master's degree starting in August 2015. I was an assistant in zoology courses and had to liaise and plan with teachers to help with different activities. In January 2016, I was offered the same role again, but this time I was given the opportunity to independently plan and develop an activity. It had to be based on different organism's anatomy, with the aim of the project to become a study tool to use throughout the semester. My undergraduate and master's degree in Biology has given me an understanding of many different concepts. This general understanding is important for teaching. I am now confident that the high school and college-age range is where my main interest in teaching. I currently teach General Biology, Environmental Science, Human Biology, and Anatomy and Physiology. I also teach environmental science at a day camp for K-12 grade students and I have gained confidence in that category as well! My skills in responsive thinking, sensitivity, patience, high motivation, and enthusiasm are valuable skills that I want to pass onto others. This is my motivation for pursuing a career in teaching and I feel that I have a lot to offer young people.

This is my 20th year teaching. I have a B.A. in Child Development from Spelman College and a M.A in Educational Leadership from Central Michigan University. I've taught Kindergarten, 1st grade and 2nd grade students. I have certifications in teaching reading. I love working with kids but I've also worked with teachers training them on how to teach students to read. Your child is going to really enjoy our time together. I bring my love of reading and traveling into the classroom and so we can learn so many new things. I can't wait to meet you and your child!

I have been a teacher for 33 years in the department of English in over a dozen colleges. Most recently I have taught dual enrolled students in eighth through twelfth grade. I am a advocate of education on all levels. I teach critical thinking to lengthen writings. I am a grammar person. I love public speaking and teach all levels of communication in the classroom. I have had well over 3,000 students through the years. I value diversity in the classroom and in society also. I love research and know MLA and works cited pages. Literature analysis is my fave subject.

I have always used the philosophy that anything worth doing, is worth doing right. This is also very true in the learning process. Some content may be difficult to understand, but with effort and persistence, it can and will get done.I currently hold a professional secondary teaching certificate which allows me to teach/tutor grades 7-12 in all sciences. I really enjoy the earth sciences and physical sciences. I think that there are tons of examples that we can observe in the world around us everyday.I enjoy being outdoors, especially on the water. I love summer time and try to get outside as much as possible.

I am a graduate from Central Michigan University's Honors Program where I received my Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and a minor in Mathematics. Since graduating, I have earned my Masters in Microbiology, Immunology, and Cancer Biology from the University of Virginia where I'm continuing on to earn my PhD in the same field. Once I earn my degree, I aspire to be a lecture professor for undergraduates with a focus on biochemistry and immunology. These subjects are exciting, but I feel students lose interest due to the mathematics involved. My extensive experience with tutoring and being a teaching assistant has inspired me to make mathematics and biological sciences more accessible and inspiring. I started tutoring mathematics (algebra through calculus) in high school and continued tutoring during my undergraduate degree in mathematics, analytical chemistry, chemistry, genetics, and molecular biology. For any subject, I like to break down the lessons into manageable concepts with different analogies to keep things fun and memorable. I love sharing my knowledge, and I firmly believe that mathematical and scientific thought benefits from creative minds.

I earned a bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University in Medical Technology and later a master's degree in Business (MBA) from DePaul University. I have over 24 years of business experience working in various industries, such as Retail, Hospitality, Banking, and Finance for companies such as JP Morgan Chase, Amazon, Target, and Nike.I have spent the past 12+ years teaching at a variety of post-secondary institutions. I currently teach in the Business, Mathematics, and Computer Science departments at various schools. In addition to teaching, I also work as a Software Trainer, where I specialize in training individuals, groups, and corporations in Excel and other Microsoft Office programs.One point I would like to make clear: I am happy to teach you and help you learn, but I will NOT do your homework for you.

A little about me....I've been in the Human Resource professional for over 20 years working with large, mid-sized and small companies in various industries to include manufacturing, financial services, non - profit sector, transportation, and education.Prior to joining Varsity Tutors, I worked in HR management positions with Detroit News (Gannett), DHL and DeVry Education Group.I earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Central Michigan University with a major in Human Resource Management and MS in Human Resource Management from Keller Graduate School of Management. I've been in your shoes... I earned my Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP). Writing, for me, is not just about mechanics or correctness, but about helping people find clarity, confidence, and their own voice. I enjoy working with open-minded learners of all backgrounds and experience levels, and I meet students where they are. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Middle School Education and a Master's degree in Educational Leadership. I am currently an 8th grade English Language Arts teacher. I've taught Language Arts for 12 years and social studies for three years. I've tutored and assisted children with spelling, reading, and writing in grades K-12.I enjoy reading, writing, and going to the beach for vacation. I am a student centered educator that uses many different methodologies for teaching to best meet the student's needs.I received my BA in News Editorial Journalism and Spanish from Central Michigan University and completed a graduate teacher licensure program at the University of Dayton. I also hold a Master's in PK-12 Spanish Education and a PK-12 Reading Endorsement from the University of Dayton. I will be Reading Recovery Certified in May 2020 through Wright State University. I am currently pursuing an Administrator's License with the University of Dayton beginning May 2020.I have tutored one-on-one in person for a private tutoring company for 2 years in Spanish. I also tutored students in an urban public school in reading during their school day for a year.I tutor all levels of Spanish, 1-AP and college level as well as elementary reading, preferably kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades.
