About Me

I am a graduate of Wayne State University with a Master of Arts and Doctorate in Industrial Organizational Psychology. My undergraduate degree in psychology is from University of Maryland. While my area of psychology has a fancy name, it's essentially the psychology of the workplace. It's closely connected to the human resources profession, and I've been working in the field for 25 years. My professional work is in organizational survey research and my work helps leaders understand the employee experience with all aspects of work. I've also served as a faculty member at different colleges and universities. I have taught a range of undergraduate psychology courses and graduate courses in psychology and human resources. I have taught research methods, statistics, and predictive analytics at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. My approach to teaching is to identify students needs and focus on the key info that helps them develop understanding and skills. I believe strongly that focusing on the use of knowledge is as important as the knowledge itself. I enjoy helping students discover their own path to understanding and mastering complex material. I enjoy helping students as a way of giving back to those who helped me. Earning a degree in higher education is a personal journey that involves a lot of work as well as unique challenges and opportunities. Helping students to achieve their goals and improve their professional prospects is a great reward for me. Outside of my professional work, I enjoy photography, cycling, hiking, and traveling.
