About Me

I have been teaching English to primarily non-native speakers (but have worked with native speakers as well) for over thirty years. I have found this to be rewardingand meaningful. Helping students to improve and master this rich, popular and complex language has been my professional life's work. Seeing students go on to college, have academic or professional success in general, or simply have more confidence in their day-to-day lives has always been my goal. My areas of expertise are listening/speaking skills and reading skills. I have worked primarily with college students and adults (high school students at times, too) at the intermediate and advanced levels. I develop vocabulary (including idioms) when working on speaking skills as part of the tutoring experience. Being a passionate reader myself - it is especially meaningful when students develop and strengthen reading skills;some even start to enjoy reading for pleasure in English!
