About Me

A graduate of University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, I earned a BA in Speech and an MS in Speech Pathology. After years working in the school system and Easter Seal Society with grades K-8, I became Director of Public Relations at Cleveland Hearing and Speech Center, Ohio. As a spokesperson for the Center I began making public appearances at events and was a regular guest on Cleveland television and radio. That led to my specialization in voice and a career as a speaking professional and member of the National Speakers Association. When I moved to North Carolina, I created a company entitled "Speaking With Authority, Inc.," and traveled nationwide as a keynote speaker and executive voice and speech coach. My award-winning book "The Voice That Means Business: How to Speak With Authority, Confidence and Credibility.....Anytime, Anywhere" helped countless clients gain public speaking confidence. I've been featured in Smart Money Magazine, Mens Health magazines, wrote columns for the Triangle Business Journal and was interviewed by The New York Times. After years of travel, I began to build my business close to home and am new well respected in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area. My passion in teaching students about the importance of speaking with authority caught the attention of Meredith College, a private women's institution in Raleigh, NC. I joined the Communications Department faculty in 2017, teaching Public Speaking, Business and Professional Communication, Interpersonal Communication and Introduction to Communication. I am currently employed there and have found my "home" teaching college students how to successfully connect with any audience...anytime, anywhere. I love influencing young people and helping them find their authentic voices! That's why I am now specializing in coaching students.
