About Me

Past courses which I have taught at the high school level include: Physics, Advanced Physics, AP Physics I, AP Physics 2, AP Physis C, Honors Geometry, Algebra II, and Honors PreCalculus. At the college level I have taught both algebra- and calculus-based physics, as well as, several graduate courses in Applied Physics, Optics and Thermodynamics. I am extremely passionate about the subjects I teach, but I understand that students don't all approach learning from the same ability level or viewpoint. Accordingly, I strive to make my lessons fun and appealing to all backgrounds by utilizing examples, where appropriate, from topics that are of interest to each specific student. I use a variety of teaching methods dependent on the specific student I am working with, recognizing that no two students are the same. Physics in particular provides a wonderful avenue for this approach, as problems can be made to fit most sports or hobbies. From a personal standpoint, I was born and raised in Australia, but have spent the past 22 years of my life residing in the U.S.A. I completed my Ph.D. in Australia before moving to the United States for my Postdoctoral Fellowship. Since then, I have spent several years teaching physics and/or mathematics at both the high school and college level. As the mother of two teenage daughters, a sophomore in college and a junior in high school, both avid volleyball players, I am well aware of the demands on students to balance academic and athletic/extracurricular schedules. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, seeing movies, reading, doing Pilates and just relaxing!
