About Me

Eleven years ago, I graduated from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign with a degree in English Literature. Following this experience, I worked as a writing instructor at Olive-Harvey College. I moved on to earn a Masters degree from Boston University, where I studied print journalism. While in Boston, I wrote news articles that appeared in the following publications: the Lowell Sun, the Somerville News, the Allston-Brighton TAB and the Dig. I left the East Coast to write and edit news content on a full-time basis for a small newspaper in Oklahoma. The publication was called the Daily Ardmoreite. While working there, I wrote news articles and feature stories. And it was my responsibility to copy-edit articles before they were published. I returned to the Midwest to work for an organization called the National Safety Council. While working for a non-profit group, I wrote content for their monthly magazine with a circulation of nearly 100,000. And I also wrote articles for safety officials that appeared in their news blogs and newsletters. My next professional opportunity was at Groupon, where I edited web content under a tight daily deadline and quickly fact-checked written material for clarity and accuracy. I currently work for a different tech company, where I also review web content. And I currently have a job where I manage editorial content before it appears in print and online for a science journal that is published by the American Medical Association. With regards to working with students, I have the ability to help them with proofreading and editing due to my background with managing, editing and writing online and print content coupled with my experience working at a community college. I am fully prepared me to help students edit material at the high school and undergraduate level. Naturally, I look forward to helping students produce well-written content in a timely fashion.
