About Me

Hello everyone! I'm Marisol. I was born and raised in IL and decided to root my career here in Lake County. I've always had a passion for tutoring. I can remember being in primary school making handwritten "worksheets" for my sister whom is two years younger. I have been a constant tutor throughout my life, both officially and unofficially. I was a recruiter as well as a tutor on the board of the Brayton Elementary School Tutoring Program during my time at Williams College. My role as recruiter involved attracting college students to sign on and then training them on how to tutor in areas varied such as reading and math. I also worked for the Boys & Girls Club assisting with programming for 3rd graders and have led the Waukegan Park District's Special Ed Teen Summer Camp. Mentorship has always been fulfilling for me. From all of these collective experiences I hope to nurture the tutoring skills I have obtained. I understand that not everyone learns the same, so I am here to listen and teach you how you learn best. Different people learn through different methods, be it visual, auditory, repetition, or hands-on, and I am committed to teach in the style in which you prefer. I am comfortable simply helping with pre-assigned homework from a teacher to creating your own customized lesson plan and materials from the ground-up. Tell me what you want to accomplish, and I will do my best to simply help you get there in a fun and lasting manner. I am a native Spanish speaker and learned grammar in grade school. I can provide great real life conversational skills and will help with the written and reading components in both conventional and non-conventional ways. I will customize language exercises according to your learning goals and style. I received my B.A. in Theatre but have been doing it since I was 12. I am a firm believer that theatre is applicable in almost any discipline and I am here to utilize those skills to make the best personalized tutoring experience for my students.
