As a graduate of the Institut d'tudes politiques de Paris (Sciences Po) holding a degree in Transatlantic Relations, I am incredibly passionate about both Francophone and Anglophone cultures. I also believe that students will be more inclined to learn and practice a language if they are captivated by its culture. I am particularly fascinated by society, history, cuisine, music, and cinema. I try to integrate these subjects into my teaching as much as possible, as they serve as excellent examples of a language at work. I also believe in a practical, real-world approach to language-learning. Over the 8 years that I studied French, the 3 years that I lived and worked in France, and the 2 years that I have taught both French and English, I have experienced an incredibly wide-array of teaching styles. The most successful approaches were those that closely mimicked the cultural and linguistic immersion that I experienced when I actually arrived in France. While memorization is a necessary part of learning any language, understanding the grammatical foundation of that language is more important. Finally, I have experienced French and English in a variety of different environments (academic, professional, social...) and I am happy to cater my lessons to your needs.
