I am a highly skilled tutor with a great deal of experience in Social Studies, History, and English. I teach by, most of all, making the subject appealing and exciting to learn about. We learn things so much faster when we are actually intrigued about the subject. I think encouraging that first step is crucial, and it helps these lessons become ones that we remember years after their first introduction. Alongside the motivational factor, it helps to know that, if you are terrible at taking tests, that is totally okay! Not every personality type connects with tests well, and I try to explain to my students some tricks they can use to make tests or assessments less intimidating. Reading a test can sometimes feel like learning a second language, and I emphasize that, not only is understanding it doable, but it IS possible to own it and make it approachable in a way that works personally with you. This makes every test afterward much less psychologically taxing and, oftentimes, that is the biggest hurdle students face in this day and age.
