Through my work as a volunteer teacher with Lake Erie Ink, I've learned that any disdain for learning is derived from a neglect of the complexity of learning -- the endless means and modes of learning, which, when sculpted to the needs of specific individuals, can completely change the way a person views the world. Engagement, ingenuity, and patience in teaching can revolutionize a student's grades, and, more importantly, their self-image, which is why I sought out a position at VarsityTutors to begin with. Successful and productive interactions with students not only helps them grow exponentially, but frequently teaches me new things as well, and it's precisely this back-and-forth nature of learning that seems to really make a difference in a student's academic career.
