10+ years of tutoring
Jamie
- While at OSU, I was selected as a teaching assistant for graduate level theory courses as well.
About Me
Beginning in September 2013, I returned to teaching at the College of Staten Island, where I successfully taught two sections of English 111. Prior to that, I had embarked on a career change as an attorney in 2001. I remain a barred attorney in the State of Connecticut, and while passionate about the law, my true calling is as an academic and teacher. My experience includes eight years of teaching Freshman Composition and Upper Division courses at Ohio State University and Capital University. I have participated in the School for Criticism and Theory at Dartmouth, and, generally, I have very strong teaching recommendations. A number of my students from this semester asked if I were available to teach English 152 following its precursor, English 111.Currently, I am teaching a section of World Literature: The Evolving Canon at CUNY (Brooklyn).I would be happy to share student essays and feedback upon request.
Hobbies & Interests
I like to read fiction and, interesting, non-fiction; I practice yoga; see plays, especially dramas, when I can; I explore new neighborhoods in New York; attend music shows; learn more about meditation; and, work on my own writing projects.
