I am comfortable with a wide range of subjects, but I have a particular fondness for history and literature, and I am particularly experienced at helping students with their writing. I'm currently working my way through the required courses to apply to Medical School, and I'm excited to share my newfound passion for the sciences with younger students. I believe that academic success can lead students to personal growth as well as a brighter future. I enjoy helping my students achieve their goals, whether they are seeking to master a subject they find challenging or improve their scores on a standardized test. Hello! My name is Mihir, and I'm a passionate and experienced math tutor with a strong academic foundation. I hold a B.S. in Mathematics from Carnegie Mellon University, where I concentrated in Discrete Mathematics and Logic and earned a Minor in Computer Science. I also completed my M.S. in Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. My background equips me with both deep mathematical knowledge and a problem-solving mindset that I bring into every tutoring session. I specialize in tutoring Math at the middle and high school levels. In the past, I've taught SAT Math, AP Calculus, AP Chemistry, and Algebra 1 and 2, among other subjects. My teaching approach focuses on building intuition and a sense of methodical problem-solving so that students can avoid memorization and cramming. I believe that this is the best way for students to be assured of their own skills and have confidence in tackling problems on their own.

I'm a rising junior at Rutgers majoring in English with a minor is Pyschology. I'm also planning on applying to the Graduate School of Education so I've taken a lot of classes related to that as well. I've been tutoring for most of my academic career, but currently I work as a paid tutor at my school's writing center during the school year, helping students who struggle with college level writing. Most of the students I tutor tend to be international students so I have a good amount of experience working with students who speak English as a second language. Obviously I tutor writing, but I also love working with literature because I love stories and I love how different people experience those stories in different ways, which I feel also reflect my "teaching philosophy". Everyone understands things in different ways, but sometimes knowledge is presented in a way that is not easily understood. My job is to bridge that gap, so to speak. Outside of school, I I like reading, writing (which sounds a lot like the stuff I do in school, now that I think about it), watching TV, movies, and YouTube videos, browsing the internet, and walking around my neighborhood.

I am a student at the Honors College of Rutgers - New Brunswick. I am currently working towards attaining a B.S. in Biochemistry, as well as a minor in Business and Administration. Over the last five years, I have reconciled my passion for teaching and my desire to interact with fellow students through tutoring. While I have tutored in a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about science, math, and English. Having taught many students, each of whom were different in terms of personality and learning style, I understand the importance of tailoring the lesson to the student's strengths. I am a recent graduate from Carnegie Mellon University with a dual degree in Chemical and Biomedical Engineering.
