Ruby's College of Letters degree — a program blending literature, history, and philosophy — might seem like an unlikely SAT Math asset, but it trained her to dissect complex prompts and extract exactly what's being asked, which is half the battle on the section's word-heavy algebra and data questions. Her 1540 SAT confirms she can back that up with actual math chops, and she's especially effective at teaching students to convert dense real-world scenarios into clean equations before solving.

Hello! My name is Mihir, and I'm a passionate and experienced math tutor with a strong academic foundation. I hold a B.S. in Mathematics from Carnegie Mellon University, where I concentrated in Discrete Mathematics and Logic and earned a Minor in Computer Science. I also completed my M.S. in Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. My background equips me with both deep mathematical knowledge and a problem-solving mindset that I bring into every tutoring session. I specialize in tutoring Math at the middle and high school levels. In the past, I've taught SAT Math, AP Calculus, AP Chemistry, and Algebra 1 and 2, among other subjects. My teaching approach focuses on building intuition and a sense of methodical problem-solving so that students can avoid memorization and cramming. I believe that this is the best way for students to be assured of their own skills and have confidence in tackling problems on their own.
I am a patient and passionate tutor with the belief that any student can succeed in reaching their full potential with the right tools, guidance, and practice. As an admitted medical school student, I have a strong biology/chemistry and test prep foundation.
I'm a rising junior at Rutgers majoring in English with a minor is Pyschology. I'm also planning on applying to the Graduate School of Education so I've taken a lot of classes related to that as well. I've been tutoring for most of my academic career, but currently I work as a paid tutor at my school's writing center during the school year, helping students who struggle with college level writing. Most of the students I tutor tend to be international students so I have a good amount of experience working with students who speak English as a second language. Obviously I tutor writing, but I also love working with literature because I love stories and I love how different people experience those stories in different ways, which I feel also reflect my "teaching philosophy". Everyone understands things in different ways, but sometimes knowledge is presented in a way that is not easily understood. My job is to bridge that gap, so to speak. Outside of school, I I like reading, writing (which sounds a lot like the stuff I do in school, now that I think about it), watching TV, movies, and YouTube videos, browsing the internet, and walking around my neighborhood.
Computer science students debug code the same way strong SAT Math test-takers work through problems — systematically checking each step instead of jumping to an answer. Anurag applies that disciplined, logic-first approach to the section's algebra and function questions, teaching students to set up the problem correctly before solving so they stop losing points on avoidable errors. His 1420 SAT and 4.7 rating back up the method.
I am currently pursuing a dual degree in Computer Science and Data Science through the Honors College at Rutgers University. With years of hands-on experience tutoring students in math, coding, science, and test prep, I bring a passionate, adaptable approach to teaching that meets each student exactly where they are. I've worked with students of all ages, from teaching over 40 kids how to swim to mentoring peers in advanced coding and math concepts. My tutoring journey began with helping classmates grasp difficult concepts in calculus and computer science, and it grew into a love for making complex ideas feel intuitive and engaging. Whether breaking down multivariable calculus, guiding students through their first lines of code, or preparing them for standardized exams like the SAT, I focus on building confidence and curiosity alongside academic skill. I tutor a wide range of subjects, including Pre-Algebra through Calculus III, Linear Algebra, High School Biology, Python, Java, R, and SAT Math and Reading. My favorite subjects to tutor are math and programming, because they offer students a toolkit to solve real-world problems, build cool projects, and think creatively about how the world works. My teaching philosophy centers on empowerment and active learning. I believe students succeed when they feel safe to ask questions, explore solutions, and connect learning to their interests. I prioritize understanding over memorization, and I tailor every session to the student's pace, goals, and learning style. Outside of academics, I'm a gym enthusiast training for my first powerlifting competition, a software developer building real-world applications, and a multi-time hackathon winner. I bring that same energy and drive into every tutoring session, aiming not just to teach, but to inspire.
I am a student at the Honors College of Rutgers - New Brunswick. I am currently working towards attaining a B.S. in Biochemistry, as well as a minor in Business and Administration. Over the last five years, I have reconciled my passion for teaching and my desire to interact with fellow students through tutoring. While I have tutored in a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about science, math, and English. Having taught many students, each of whom were different in terms of personality and learning style, I understand the importance of tailoring the lesson to the student's strengths. As a result, I work to create unique, individualized learning plans that engage the student and make learning feel like an opportunity, rather than a chore.
I am most comfortable teaching the SAT Reading/Writing and helping youths with their personal statements. Furthermore, my one-year experience as an AmeriCorps VISTA for PeaceJam Foundation – an award-winning organization that promotes service learning and peacekeeping through the combined efforts of Nobel Peace Laureates and young people – has instilled in me a deep reverence and hope for our youths today. I strongly believe in our youths’ limitless potential to pursue their dreams and become agents of positive social change and know I will be an excellent mentor/coach through their journey.
Engineering coursework at Carnegie Mellon meant Raaga used the math tested on the SAT as a launching pad for far harder material — so concepts like quadratic modeling, systems of equations, and advanced data analysis feel intuitive to her. She scored 1550 on the SAT and now teaches students to identify which tool each problem is really asking for, cutting through the wordiness that trips up even strong math students. Rated 5.0 across her sessions.
I am confident I will be able to use my experience and current knowledge to raise your grades and scores.
Rachel scored a 1580 on the SAT and approaches the math section by categorizing every problem into one of about fifteen recurring question types — heart of algebra, passport to advanced math, problem solving with data analysis. Once a student can identify the type, they already know the solution path, which turns a stressful timed section into a series of familiar puzzles.
I'm a motivated and enthusiastic engineer with a drive to always continue learning, share knowledge with others and inspire.
