I'm a motivated and enthusiastic engineer with a drive to always continue learning, share knowledge with others and inspire.

I am a student at the Honors College of Rutgers - New Brunswick. I am currently working towards attaining a B.S. in Biochemistry, as well as a minor in Business and Administration. Over the last five years, I have reconciled my passion for teaching and my desire to interact with fellow students through tutoring. While I have tutored in a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about science, math, and English. Having taught many students, each of whom were different in terms of personality and learning style, I understand the importance of tailoring the lesson to the student's strengths. As a result, I work to create unique, individualized learning plans that engage the student and make learning feel like an opportunity, rather than a chore.

I am most comfortable teaching the SAT Reading/Writing and helping youths with their personal statements. Furthermore, my one-year experience as an AmeriCorps VISTA for PeaceJam Foundation – an award-winning organization that promotes service learning and peacekeeping through the combined efforts of Nobel Peace Laureates and young people – has instilled in me a deep reverence and hope for our youths today. I strongly believe in our youths’ limitless potential to pursue their dreams and become agents of positive social change and know I will be an excellent mentor/coach through their journey.

Rachel scored a 1580 on the SAT and approaches the math section by categorizing every problem into one of about fifteen recurring question types — heart of algebra, passport to advanced math, problem solving with data analysis. Once a student can identify the type, they already know the solution path, which turns a stressful timed section into a series of familiar puzzles.

Engineering coursework at Carnegie Mellon meant Raaga used the math tested on the SAT as a launching pad for far harder material — so concepts like quadratic modeling, systems of equations, and advanced data analysis feel intuitive to her. She scored 1550 on the SAT and now teaches students to identify which tool each problem is really asking for, cutting through the wordiness that trips up even strong math students. A physics and math major at UT Dallas, Sean approaches SAT Math the way he approaches problem sets: by identifying which concept a question is really testing beneath its word-problem disguise. I am a Biology geek, currently enrolled in NYU pursuing a Masters in Bioinformatics. I love all things science, and am building a career working in Big Data. I love working with kids of all ages, and evaluate each child to determine what resources work best.

I am currently an undergraduate at Johns Hopkins University working towards a degree in Biomedical Engineering. One of the most rewarding aspects tutoring is helping students arrive at that "Eureka" moment when the concept or idea they have been trying to understand suddenly clicks. I hope to be a mentor to students as I draw from my own experiences, having been in the same shoes not long ago. I enjoy tutoring all subjects, particularly math, physics, and biology.
