I'm Jamie, a 25-year-old high school teacher from Philadelphia. For as long as I can remember, I've loved helping people write standout application essays that reflect their personalities and passions. I'm a kind, incisive, and relatable teacher and I'd love to work with you to meet and exceed your goals!

I am a freshman undergraduate at Johns Hopkins University. I am majoring in Molecular and Cellular Biology and minoring in Spanish on the pre-med track! I have been a tutor for all 4 years of high school. I have helped students with mathematics, ranging from middle school to college level courses, as well as intermediate Spanish. I have also worked at Kumon for the past 3 years and have experiences in teaching English, grammar, and reading for all high-school level courses. While I am confident in my abilities to help students in science (biology and chemistry!), I am most passionate about helping students in mathematics, whether that is with the SAT, ACT, AP, and excel at reviewing college admission essays. I am a firm believer in creating an organized and adaptive tutoring program, allowing students to practice with questions that would challenge them in beneficial ways.

I'm a current student at Johns Hopkins University pursuing a bachelor's in both Neuroscience and Molecular & Cellular Biology. My favorite subjects to tutor are biology, chemistry, psychology, art history, and environmental science on both a high school and Advanced Placement level. Alongside those subjects, I am comfortable teaching middle school and lower level high school math and science, and I offer test preparation for both the SAT and ACT. Outside of academics, I like to train for memory sports, and my current goal is to set a Guinness World Record for memorizing the most decimal places of the irrational number phi. In my previous tutoring experience, I have not only helped teach the subject matter at hand, but I have also guided students on how to improve their study habits in general.

I am a junior at Columbia University double majoring in Financial Engineering and Computer Science. Since high school, I have extensively tutored French students for standardized testing (SAT/ACT). This helped me bridge the obvious language gap whilst breaking down the tests into their fundamentals to better grasp the strategy behind them. I firmly believe in learning-by-doing which is why I encourage all my students to try first before revising their methods and understanding of the subjects. I am fluent in French, Arabic, Hebrew, and English which I believe helps me communicate the very essence of the subject as opposed to a numbered list of tasks which might not help all types of students. In my spare time, I enjoy catching up on the Financial Times, trying my hand at new languages and designing clothing.

I am a graduate of the University of Maryland, with degrees in physics, astronomy, and studio art. During my time at university I was a member of the Physic Education Research group, conducting studies into the best methods of math and physics pedagogy. Although I am most accomplished in physical science education, my methods are applicable to all kinds of science. I have also studied history and literature extensively as a matter of personal passion. My goals as a tutor reach beyond simply grasping the material at the level which it is presented--I aim to give students the intellectual and emotional tools to grasp underlying principles of any field, and the confidence to believe that this is something they can achieve under their own power. Hello! I am a current junior attending Johns Hopkins University studying a major of Molecular Biology with a focus on Computational Medicine. I've been tutoring for over six yearsstarting with math and Chinese lessons in my communityand have worked as a teacher's assistant for three years at a local elementary school. From private sessions to group instruction, I've discovered how much I love supporting students and helping them believe in their abilities. While having tutor a variety of subjects my most passionate subject are biology and math because they're like puzzleschallenging but extremely rewarding once you find the right approach. I am a graduate from the University of Maryland: Baltimore County, and I received my degree in Geography and Environmental Science, which is fun stuff like geology and hurricane studies. I was a tutor for 2 years at my university, and I got lots of experience with figuring out individual learning styles and different ways to approach education. I've always been most excited about taking and teaching STEM classes. I love being able to teach science and math the most because they have a reputation for being really difficult, and I love breaking down concepts into bite-sized components that are easier to think about. My teaching style focuses heavily on content understanding, instead of just short-term application. I find students are able to excel much more when they're given time to be able to break down content and thoroughly explore how and why it works.

I graduated from the University of Rochester with a B.S. in Biology with Honors in Research and a B.A. in East Asian Studies, along with a minor in Clinical Psychology. I have three years of experience as a Biology II teaching assistant, where I led recitations, ran review sessions, and worked closely with students who needed extra support. I also spent three years as a writing tutor, helping students at all stages of the writing process. One of my favorite parts of tutoring is seeing that "aha" moment when things start to click and students become more confident in their abilities. I can tutor biology, chemistry, English, history, and beginner French or Chinese, as well as standardized test prep for the SAT, ACT, and MCAT. I believe that knowledge should be shared and that teaching future generations is one of the most meaningful ways to make a difference. Every student learns differently, so I focus on being both goal-oriented and flexible. I am constantly adjusting my approach to match each person's learning style during the session. I also like to help students build effective study routines, since I believe strong studying habits are essential to effective learning. Outside of academics, I enjoy cooking, hiking, listening to music, and playing video games.

I am an aspiring applied mathematician, with particular interest in image processing and climate science. I graduated in May 2017 from Washington University in St. Louis with a bachelor's in physics and mathematics, and am beginning a PhD program in September 2017 at the University of Chicago in Computational and Applied Mathematics. I've tutored introductory physics students for three years and enjoyed it thoroughly, as a chance to help other students while revisiting fundamental concepts to enhance my own knowledge. I'm Anna! I'm currently a student in the MD/MBA program between Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine and the Kellogg School of Management, and graduated from Northwestern University as part of the Honors Program in Medical Education. I attended the Bergen County Academies in New Jersey, a selective, application-based magnet school, for high school.

I'm a college student attending the University of Michigan and I'm majoring in chemistry and computer science. I have two years of extensive experience tutoring high schoolers in chemistry and all subjects of the SAT and ACT. I can also say that I understand completely how difficult the process of test prep and high school chemistry can be because I recently survived the whole process myself having taken IB chem and the ACT/SAT in the last 1-2 years and studying and prepping extensively for them. That being said, I'm always super eager not just to tutor students in those subjects, but also to offer the best advice and guidance I can in tackling those challenges as a high schooler and as someone planning for college. I believe it's super important as a tutor not just to spoon-feed answers but to teach how to problem-solve, so I take care to solidify our understanding of the methods to approach a problem. I am currently attending New York University where I am pursuing a degree in Finance and Statistics. Currently a second-year law student at the University of Chicago, Elena tackled the LSAT recently enough to remember exactly where the logic games and conditional reasoning trips people up. I am a graduate from Georgetown University, where I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics with a minor in Music. I'm currently pursuing a Master's of Science in Business Analytics at Carnegie Mellon University. I've been tutoring since I started high school, focusing on mathematics and writing. Since coming to medical school, I have excelled in all of my pre-clinical coursework, and I currently rank in the Top 20% of my class. I am a junior at Purdue University studying Aerospace Engineering and am part of the Air Force ROTC program. I have 6 years of tutoring experience at places including Kumon, Mathnasium, and Purdue University. I have worked with kids of all ages from kindergarten to sophomores in college, each with their own set of unique strengths, and tutored a variety of subjects, including calculus, trigonometry, geometry, thermodynamics, chemistry, and physics. Like many of my previous students, I struggled to understand concepts that I was being taught and was a terrible test taker. However, I found ways to overcome my obstacles and develop an better intuition for what I was learning. I believe that it is only this intuition and understanding that helps overcome these obstacles. My least favorite thing to see people be discouraged, so with a little bit of guidance and reassurance, I want to show people that they are capable of anything they put their mind to.
