I have always been a curious person who has enjoyed school and I hope to inspire the same in my students. I know the importance of tailoring my teaching style to each individual student, and seek to understand how they learn so that I may be able to teach them more effectively. I work to give students the tools they need to be successful learners so that one day they will no longer need my assistance.

I'm currently a senior at the University of Michigan pursuing a dual degree in Computer Science and Business. I've been tutoring for 7+ years now, and I love making an impact in my students' lives! Previously, I've taught Math (up until pre-calculus), Science, Reading, Grammar, Writing, Computer Science (Java, C++, Python, Scratch, etc), and many more. I truly believe that working individually with students will not only help my students learn but also help me in growing as I learn from those around me.

I am eager to help students thrive because I'm still very much a student myself, and will be for the foreseeable future. Though I enjoyed my time as an undergraduate student in Literature, and learned quite a bit during my time at Vanderbilt, there's still more work to be done. I am working towards a Master's degree, and will continue on from there.Though I am more than happy to help where needed anywhere from K-12, I am most experienced with test prep tutoring. The SAT and ACT tests can be an extremely stressful event for students, especially first time test-takers, so I do my best to go beyond the material covered by the tests and prepare students for the experience of taking the test itself, so that when the day comes, they are confident and prepared to tackle whatever challenges rise up before them.The way that I teach generally falls in line with the way that I learn best myself: discussion and collaborative explanation. When approaching difficult material, lecturing at a student leaves much to be desired. I aim to help them arrive at conclusions and realizations on their own by building on material with which they are already comfortable and confident, and working together towards a solution rather than giving the answer and expecting it to simply be memorized.Outside of academic pursuits, I enjoy many creatively-focused hobbies, primarily writing, acting, and even juggling! I am thankful for the opportunity in my time at Vanderbilt to combine all three into an annual show that not only brought smiles to the faces of a campus, but had the chance to reach out into the Nashville community and make a difference.

I migrated from Peru to America in the 80’s not knowing any English and realized the importance of being bilingual. After taking English classes and a lot of self study, I learned enough of the language to enroll in college. I got my bachelor and master’s degree in Spanish at Brooklyn College and tutoring my fellow classmates helped me pay for my tuition. Since then, I worked as a part time Spanish substitute teacher and was promoted to a full time teacher in public schools in Brooklyn. In 2013 my hard work paid off when my students got a 100 percent pass rate in their Spanish Lote Exam (the new name for Regents in Foreign Language). While I was teaching, I continued to tutor students who needed help in Spanish of all ages and grades. I have a particular student of Russian decent who I’ve been tutoring since she was in Junior High. When she went to high school, she took Spanish as her language of choice. Her teacher even thought she was Spanish because she spoke the language very well. At the present moment, I am still tutoring her in Spanish but this time, her lessons are more conversational. Due to my struggles as an immigrant, I tell all my students that it’s very important to go to college and get their education because it is something that no one can take away form you. It’s their ticket to their freedom and independence. In my spare time I practice yoga, spend time with my daughters and read books.

My name is Jeremey Taylor and I am a senior at Chicago State University. I am double majoring in English Media and African American studies and also attended the University of Illinois at Chicago. I have always had a passion for writing and have put a tremendous amount of time into perfecting my craft. Due to the fact that I am also fascinated with history, I have practiced argumentative essays assigned in these classes for over a decade. Throughout my education I have went back to tutor younger individuals from grammar school to college. I was able to tutor kids in multiple subjects at my high school while attending UIC as I was solely put in charge of after school programs. Not only do I have a passion for learning but I also have a passion for teaching. I will continue to pursue my education until I can teach at a collegiate level.

I am a life long learner, a certified teacher and a licensed Georgia attorney. I am most fulfiled when I successfully help others reach their goals!!

I am an undergraduate senior who will graduate from Rice University this May, where I am pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry. After graduation, I will be going to medical school at UT Houston in the Texas Medical Center. I have experience as a tutor at Rice, where I tutored student-athletes in subjects such as biology and chemistry, which are fields I specialize in. I have helped tutor many friends in the two scientific portions of the MCAT, and this is the discipline I am most passionate about. I am a firm proponent of helping students help themselves. In my spare time, I enjoy exercising, reading, and fixing bicycles. I look forward to helping students succeed in their goals.

I'm a rising sophomore from Yale University. There I am studying to pursue a degree in either economics or computer science, and possibly both. I took the ACT a time or too and know my way around the exam, and I think I have a strong handle on the college admissions process.

I know not everyone grasps and understands concepts and skills using the same methods of teaching; I enjoy adjusting the way I explain my concepts and skills to meet the needs of each individual student. My goal is to be sure each student leaves a session with me with more understanding of the subject then when we began.
