My tutoring style is structured on the principle that not every person learns the same way. It's not always how you were taught the material, but how it was received. If it was never received and learned by the student, they were never taught.I teach Sciences (chemistry, biology), and Math and have ...

My first tutoring experience was actually in the first grade. My dad had taught me how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers before beginning the first grade. Since I was so ahead, I was allowed to tutor 1 student in a special education class. I also tutored in high school and at MIT. I am really good at tutoring because I can break down the subject matter in a multitude of ways and explain it differently each time. Additionally, I am really good at helping students make connections between two seemingly unrelated topics. Lastly, I push students rather hard. I believe in giving them the toughest and spontaneous questions possible. I believe this will help them face any difficult exam question in the future.

I believe that every student can learn any subject. The impact of a good teacher is crucial to student success. I use models, demos, mnemonic devices, examples, diagrams, video clips, and simulations to help students understand concepts. Learning should be fun and motivating. I use any method that works to help a student succeed.

I began tutoring my fellow peers in Chemistry when I was a Sophomore in High School. I enjoy sharing my own techniques and tools to help obtain a different level of understanding. Critical and logical thinking is my main way of thinking. I enjoy the moment when something "clicks" to the person I am tutoring/teaching, it is a great feeling to know that methods and ways work and that the students enjoy learning, I love when they get excited that they finally achieved a level of understanding. I am currently on track to become a high school Chemistry teacher, tutoring is something I have always enjoyed over the past 10 years!

I am a graduate of the University of Rochester with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. My tutoring experience originally started when I was a sophomore in high school, volunteering as a Math and Science tutor until I graduated. In college, I was a teaching assistant for two courses, Introduction to Geological Sciences and Russia Now (State of Russia in Present Time), as well as a tutor for Calculus I, II, Multi Dimensional, Linear Algebra with Differential Equations, Physics, and Chemistry. Currently I offer tutoring in several subjects related to Math and Science, and the ones I am particularly interested in are Calculus, Physics, and Physical (Quantum) Chemistry. My teaching philosophy consists of a belief that the understanding of subjects combined with an appropriate teaching strategy could be one of the most effective ways to help students. My particular focus consists of my interest in learning styles and its application to education. Therefore, my tutoring strategy is more individualized based on learning styles. Some of my biggest interests include dance, including classical ballet and contemporary, fashion design, and writing.

I love working with students and helping them accomplish their goals! It is a joy relating to students and the struggles that inevitably occur inside or outside the classroom. I believe it is important for a student to gain a thorough understanding of the subject rather than completing an assignment because a genuine knowledge of the subject often produces a passion for learning due to the students accomplishment, and this passion for learning and understanding is my ultimate goal for the student.I received my Bachelors degree in Biomedical Sciences from Liberty University with the honors of Magna Cum Laude. Throughout college I was consistently meeting one-on-one with professors, which taught me the value of meeting with someone to bolster subject knowledge, and I also helped my fellow students throughout college with various questions and topics. I learned that it takes a village to obtain academic achievement and educational goals, and that it really can be more enjoyable going through the experience with others! In addition, I was Valedictorian of my high school class with honors of Summa Cum Laude, and I am familiar with the hard work it takes in high school to be accepted to the University of choice and obtain academic scholarships.I tutor subjects concerning the Sciences, Math, English, Public Speaking, Music, and the ACT. I have taken the ACT 5 times in order to achieve the test score I wanted, so I am very experienced with that exam (and the hard work it takes to achieve those high-test scores). I love tutoring Biology because of the beautiful intricacies that make life possible, and Biology also incorporates various hard sciences such as, Chemistry and Physics. I enjoy tutoring English because language is so important in sharing with others your thoughts and your experiences. Piano/Music is another favorite of mine because I have been playing the piano since I was 4 years old so the subject is very dear to my heart. While I love learning new things and stretching the mind, other interests and hobbies of mine include traveling, coffee, quality music, vintage things, shopping, hiking, running, and of course, piano.

I am a graduate of Williams College with majors in both Chemistry and Political science. I also completed the pre-medical curriculum and plan on going to medical school. While at Williams I expanded my love of learning under professors who focused on teaching, engaging students and building relationships. I took advantage of the liberal arts course offerings and am comfortable tutoring in the core social sciences.Trained by Teach For America, I have taught 9th grade Biology in Georgia public schools. In college I tutored my peers in General, Organic, Physical and Inorganic Chemistry. I was a lab Teaching Assistant for Molecular Biology, Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry. My experience also includes tutoring SAT, ACT, and SSAT test preparation, and high school science, math and English internationally. My teaching philosophy is that every student can learn and achieve at the highest level. I strive to explore different avenues of learning in order for students to comprehend and engage with the material.

I am a graduate of Boston University (BU) as of 2012, and I recently graduated from Tufts University in 2014. I have received my Bachelors of Science in Biomedical Engineering from BU, and I have earned my Masters of Science degree in the same field at Tufts. I currently work as a research scientist in Cambridge studying therapies for Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Disease. My tutoring experience stems from my involvement in the National Honor Society at Xaverian Brothers High School where I tutored Freshman and Sophomore classes in our mathematics and science, specifically Algebra, Calculus and Biology. Furthermore, after being inducted in the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society at BU, I led tutoring sessions specifically geared to Engineering principles such as mechanics, physics, and mathematics. As an engineer, my favorite subjects to study are High School to College Mathematics as well as the Sciences (Physics, Chemisty, Biology) because it gives the mind a great workout! I am a generally upbeat and motivated individual which is essentially translated to my tutoring strategies; if you can somehow make the subject engaging, the more chances the student will want to learn the material! I enjoy that "A-ha!" moment when the student fully and finally understands a concept! In my spare time, I am a competitive ballroom dancer, theater aficionado and a scientific researcher in biomedical engineering!

Ever since playing "the math game" on long road trips, when my dad would quiz me on the multiplication table, I have had a passion for learning and for making learning enjoyable and even fun. As a tutor, I hope to share my love for math and science with my students. I have an approachable, easygoing demeanor and I like working with others. I also consider myself to be very well organized.I am an Atlanta native who just recently moved back to Georgia after graduating magna cum laude from Wellesley College. I was a dual magnet student in math/science and performing arts at North Springs Charter High School in Sandy Springs. While at Wellesley, I was a statistics teaching assistant for two years. I collaborated with professors to design innovative teaching strategies for students to remember and understand mathematical concepts and worked both individually with students and in small groups. I also was actively involved in Science Outreach and a founding member of SLAM DUNK (Science Learning and Mentoring, Discovering and Understanding New Knowledge), a group that partnered with the Science Club for Girls. I was part of a team that mentored middle school students to apply their passion for sports into learning more about biomechanics and anatomy. During my senior year, I completed a year-long independent study project developing and implementing an exercise physiology curriculum for middle school girls. Learning was very active and hands on. One of the primary goals of my teaching style is to try to go beyond the textbook and create analogies that help to make difficult material less abstract.I aspire to be a physical therapist since I will be able to combine my love for running and sports with my academic interest in science. Also, as a physical therapist, I will continue to educate others by teaching patients exercises to rebuild strength.I look forward to tutoring future students and learning more about their interests, learning styles and goals. I will adjust my method of teaching accordingly and look forward to the opportunity to help a student master their desired subject. Not only do I believe that a student will make gains from being tutored, I will be more fulfilled, as I truly enjoy interacting with and helping others.

I believe that learning should be engaging and relevant. One of my purposes as a tutor is to demonstrate to students the wealth of information that still awaits them and to share my excitement about these subjects in the hope that they will join me in that emotion. I hope to show them that both math and science are applicable and beneficial to their everyday lives, regardless of where their interests may eventually lead them.I also want to give my students methods for surviving and thriving in today's increasingly fast- paced and technologically advanced world. To do this, they need the critical thinking and analytical skills to discriminate and interpret the information with which they are bombarded everyday from a variety of sources. I want to show them that science is not a static body of knowledge to be memorized, but a growing and changing way of understanding our selves and our world. I try approach concepts by modeling how scientists collect data about a subject and then use it to develop theories that can explain their observations. I always emphasize that scientists continue to further develop and modify these theories as new data is discovered. I also want my students to understand that I do not have all of the answers for them and they will need to find some of them on their own. They need to be willing and capable enough to do this. When working with math, I attempt to connect concepts to "real world" uses and ideas. I hope to show my students that math is not a torture technique, but a tool that can be used to describe and test ideas as well as to overcome obstacles to success.Lastly, I believe that math and science are not done in isolation from other topics. Reading, writing and communication are important parts of instruction as well. Whether it is reading about a concept for information, learning or pleasure or it is writing and speaking about the ideas that a student has developed in working out a problem, all of these activities are integral parts of math and science work. However, my ultimate goal as a tutor is to have a positive influence on some part of each of my students' lives that helps them toward becoming capable and independent adults. The primary objective of teaching young people is to have them eventually be able to make competent and confident decisions for themselves and for others who may depend upon them as adults.
